LINO DAINESE, Italian entrepreneur, founder of Dainese SpA and D-Air Lab, involved in the creation of protective systems since 1972. In the early years, Lino Dainese invented a series of protectors inspired by nature such as lobster shells. In 1995, he began to design an electronically activated wearable airbag to protect motorcyclists from falls. This technology, called D-Air, has become a worldwide success story, now also dedicated to fall protection for workers, the elderly and children.
In 2015, President of the Republic Sergio Mattarella awarded Lino Dainese the Leonardo Prize and the D-Air received the Ferdinand Porsche Prize for innovation in Vienna. In 1999 and 2017, the ADI awarded Dainese with the prestigious Compasso d’Oro.
